Ahu Beach Villas Sea | Apartment in Kaitake, New Zealand
Recycled materials were collected from a number sources including Port Taranaki, Port of Nelson, the old Stratford Hospital and the Koru Hall. Timber was also milled on site and from these treasures the Villas were created. They have an old European feel and have a character all of their own. North facing to make the most of the winter sun, the Villa sits strong and blends into the landscape. The lattice windows break up the expansive view and create a cosy inside space. Alternatively having the windows open creates a fabulous view of the Tasman Sea.
This is one of three family villas. We also have a studio villa with a queen size bed. The four Villas are housed in two unique self contained dwellings.
Oraukawa Lodge is nestled into the hillside with two queen bedrooms. Please enquire for any further booking information.
Despite being built almost entirely of reused materials the modern amenities are all there; free wifi, stereo, TV and DVD. The Villa is fully self contained and comfortable.
The local beach is safe for swimming and a favourite place for many to surf, paddle board, kite surf and wind surf. Beach combing is fruitful, as is the fishing off the coast. Many of the significant gardens in the region are located nearby and we are close to the National Park. The Kaitake Ranges are at the end of Ahu Ahu Road and the North Egmont visitors centre which leads to the summit track is 45 minutes drive.
The local Butler's Reef Pub, Cafes and Village amenities are 5 minutes drive or 30 minute walk. New Plymouth is famous for many attractions, e.g., Womad, Pukekura Park, Govett Brewster Art Gallery, Coastal Walkway, etc., is only 15-20 minutes drive. David and Nuala your hosts love the area they live in and are always keen to share local knowledge to make you trip to Taranaki one to remember.
