An attractive, traditional, 1880s mid-terraced cottage set just off the main street in the village of Hinderwell, 9 miles north of Whitby, North Yorkshire. This former railway worker’s cottage is well-maintained and comfortably furnished. The property is ideal for couples and friends wishing to enjoy the beautiful mix of moorland and coast, in this picturesque part of the country. Downstairs, there is a welcoming open plan living space with a cosy multi-fuel burner, kitchen area and a small dining area. The kitchen has access to a small rear courtyard with garden furniture, while at the front of the cottage, there is an enclosed lawned garden which is great for sitting and relaxing and enjoying watching the world go by. The picturesque fishing village of Runswick Bay is just 1 mile away with its sandy cove and relaxed, laid back ambience. Take a bracing cliff-top walk on the Cleveland Way with superb coastal views, or explore the nearby seaside town of Whitby, steeped in history, with its narrow, cobbled streets, interesting shops and famous abbey. Ideal for those who enjoy outdoor pursuits, with an abundance of footpaths, cycle routes and cliff walks in the immediate area, including the famous 110-mile Cleveland Way. You can walk along the cliff tops enjoying the stunning scenery to the quaint fishing villages of Staithes, Runswick Bay and Sandsend and then on to the bustling fishing port of Whitby. Whitby itself is an excellent day out, where you will find plenty to do, with an abundance of attractions to suit all ages, along with an excellent selection of shops and cafés in both the new and old towns. Whitby plays host too many events and festivals all year round including Goth weekenders, a regatta and a Folk Music Festival among the favourites. From Whitby a ride on the steam train is not to be missed, and from which you can view the dramatic scenery of the North York Moors en-route through the quaint little villages of Grosmont, Goathland (alias Aidensfield in the TV series ‘Heartbeat’) and Levisham to its final destination of Pickering. The beautiful Victorian resort of Saltburn-by-the-Sea is only 8 miles away with its own cliff lift dating back to 1884, and its famous pier which is the most northerly surviving British pier, and Smugglers Heritage Centre not far from the lovely promenade, is perfect for a leisurely stroll on a fine evening. The traditional seaside town of Scarborough is just 40 minutes away, and the medieval walled city of York with is many great attractions such as the Jorvik Viking Centre and the National Railway museum is within easy reach.
