River Garden Cottage is situated in Litton Mill, an attractive riverside hamlet made up predominantly of old mill workers’ cottages around an old cotton mill dating back to 1785. As the name suggests, this end-terrace cottage comes with its own private riverside garden, a very rare amenity here. As a ‘no through road’ hamlet, the location is wonderfully quiet and secluded; it offers a truly peaceful traffic-free holiday. Perfect for walkers, cyclists and nature lovers alike (for example water voles are numerous on the river here), there are excellent routes available direct from the door in all directions, including the Monsal Trail, which can be accessed immediately across the river and offers 8 traffic-free miles of level cycling and walking with spectacular views. The cottage is centrally located in the heart of the Peak District National Park, with a good pub serving food just a mile down the road, and the nearby small town of Tideswell, with a supermarket and a range of shops, less than 10-minutes away by car. The spa and market towns of Buxton and Bakewell respectively are around a 15-minute drive, whilst the beautiful honeypot village of Castleton and the historic houses of Chatsworth and Haddon Hall around half an hour.
