Positive: This is a spacious apartment in a great location, just across the main road from the famous Lake Bled. The kitchen is well appointed and has plenty of cooking utensils, although the fridge is a small counter height model. The living/dining/kitchen room was very comfortable. There is great water pressure in the shower, and it’s a large bathroom There is plenty of space for the clothes rack on the balcony, and clothing dries fast here without humidity. The apartment is well equipped, there are spare linens in the closets and a vacuum cleaner, with some brooms on the balcony. After a few days the wooden floors were in need of a quick sweep. The U-shaped couch was better than average. It's firm and in good shape. I ended up sleeping here because the mattress in the bedroom is much too soft for my sensitive back.
Negative: The bedroom has a balcony but it looks out over the post office parking lot and the restaurant dumpsters-- there is “city view” and then there is “loud city view” as bottles get tossed into the bins. The dumpsters became fuller and smellier during our 5 day stay with the wasp population on the balcony increasing proportionately, so it became unpleasant to sit outside as the days went by. The parking situation needs to be clarified. There are 3 spots behind the building and they’re listed as first come, first served-- we were happy to score one of them, but then cars parked us in the first night. At the time I did not bring it to the property manager’s attention because we planned to walk the area that night and the following day. However, the next morning I notified the property manager because we wanted to do a day trip on the following day. Her response came quickly but was not acceptable, instead of offering to let the restaurant know to respect these communal spaces, it was a “too bad, so sad” response. There is a bonus (wink wink) 4th spot by the Post Office gate if you can manage to snag it. Area parking in this area is steeply priced, so budget accordingly. Nearby parking is 5€ per hour or an exorbitant 30€ for overnight. If you’re willing to walk 15-20 mins from the Lake area’s center of activity you can find parking for 15€ daily. The wifi in the apartment was unreliable, cutting out periodically. I ended up using my phone’s hot spot instead. The bed was made up with a single large duvet and we prefer separate ones. The welcome packet's instructions should include an easy picture guide to Slovenia's complicated recycling procedures for people who are not familiar with it.
