Travel Purpose: leisure
Positive: Good place to stay for a couple of days. The location is quiet, all right, just perfect to relax after an inbound flight, but you'd need a car for everything. There was free parking in the back, off a steep lane. No problem. IKEA furniture. No problem there, either. Haven't tried the pool. The property may be perceived as "beautiful" by some, and it is, indeed, but, honestly, for SXM, it's nothing exciting. As for the advertised statement which stresses the proximity of this property to Pinel Island, I note, that similarly, this property would also be "close" to St. Barts, Saba, Guadeloupe, etc., etc., and, by the same token, is almost "next to" Africa.
Negative: The place is relatively remote and is located in a presumably safe gated community. To find it for the first time after dark was a real challenge. It helps, if you speak French and have a local simcard in your phone. Buy it at the SXM airport. You'll need a "punch-in" code to open the main gate at the entrance to the compound but the code evidently changes more often than the instructions to the visitors.
Summary: Good, clean, albeit Spartan short-term accommodation off the beaten path. You'd love it.
