Tucked away in the heart of this friendly Broadland village, within easy walking distance of the village pub and shop. Hawthorn Cottage has been beautifully styled and furnished for discerning customers seeking comfort. To the rear is an enclosed garden with lawn and large decked area perfect for relaxing and al fresco dining.
There is an abundance of eateries in the surrounding area, including fine dining in an AA award-winning restaurant. The surrounding landscape is gentle and tranquil, dotted with ancient churches, wind pumps and nature reserves, this area of Norfolk offers a wealth of opportunity to enjoy walking, cycling and bird watching. Circular walking trails are also available locally. Nearby, Hickling Broad and How Hill Nature Reserves with its marshes, meadows, woodland and open water, is well worth exploring.
Many centres offer bike, kayaking, paddle boarding, canoe hire, complete with instruction, if required - possibly the most delightful way to discover the lovely reed lined waterways and abundant wildlife. Visitors can also hire day boats at nearby Womack Waters, Ludham (2 miles) and Potter Heigham (3 miles). Wroxham, 9 miles, is capital of the Norfolk Broads National Park, and from here you can enjoy riverside eateries, the 'world's largest village store', jump on the train to visit the city of Norwich, and coastal towns, home to the Bure Valley narrow gauge steam railway, daily river trips, and daily boat hire. Great days out for your children include BeWILDerwood at Horning, a tree top park and the Dinosaur Park for splash park, as well as indoor and outdoor fun at Lenwade.
Excellent sandy beaches can be found all around the coastline, many welcoming dogs too. Sea Palling and Winterton on Sea offer wide sandy beaches backed by sand dunes. For lively family fun, visitors need look no further than Great Yarmouth with its pier, fun fair and amusements, whilst Cromer also offers traditional seaside entertainment including a renowned end of pier show. Bygone museums, craft centres and National Trust Blickling Hall are all within an easy drive.
Excellent shopping 30 minutes' drive, at the medieval city of Norwich, with its magnificent cathedral, castle, galleries, museums, cinemas, theatres and two indoor shopping malls. A little further afield on the North Norfolk coast, seal watching boat trips can be found at picturesque fishing villages Blakeney Quay and Morston Harbour, which also boast pubs and restaurants serving superb locally caught seafood. Fishing is available locally (seasonal and licence required) with many privately owned fishing lakes accepting day visitors, and from the riverside at Ludham, Hickling, Potter Heigham and Wroxham.
