Positive: The location is very convenient, a 5-min walk to Blaha Lujza metro station, which is two stops away from Deák Ferenc. It’s also in the Jewish Synagogue area where there are many cafes, restos and ruin bars. The area is pretty quiet. The room is spacious, has a TV and small kitchen with microwave and cooktop. It looks quite new and the design is modern even if the building is very old and worn-out. There was also an AC which made it very comfortable to stay and sleep in these hot late-June days when it was reaching up to 34°C.
Negative: First, the checkout was not very clear. You had to figure out some steps by yourself. It was not step-by-step and detailed as other self check-in properties I’ve stayed at. I did not get any instructions with photos and videos. I also had trouble contacting support since my Whatsapp number was different from the number I used in Booking.com when I booked the stay. Even if I contacted them days ahead about this, I did not get this fixed so I still had a nervous check-in experience. I arrived at midnight, the sensor lights in the old building were not working and it was very dark so finding the actual unit was difficult. I was also mindful and anxious not to bother other people living in this building while I’m using a flashlight to check on the doors. Other than that, the flush in the toilet was not working consistently and also the floor was dusty when I first came in – like it was not cleaned for several days. I also asked for the wifi password through a web-based support chat (because it was not included in check-in instructions). The support gave me the address as the wifi name and the actual wifi name as the password. Probably some copy-pasting error. And then they never replied there again. They did give the correct password in Whatsapp. Overall, I think for the price you can get a better anxiety-free experience. But the stay itself was comfortable.
Summary: Comfortable and conveniently-located room but had a bit of a stressful check-in experience.
