Summary: This property is a well-built home in the mountains. Unfortunately, the heat is provided by a stove that burns wood pellets. When we arrived, the owner explained that we would have to drive to a nearby town, load up on 35 pound bags of these pellets, bring them back to the house, load them in the stove, etc. And--oh yeah--clean out the ashes once a day. This also added $20--30 dollars day to the cost of the rental. When I complained the owner said that the listing did not claim that heat was included. Well, it didn't articulate electricity, or a roof, for that matter. This situation should have been disclosed in advance. Also, the house was freezing when we arrived, and it took fully 36 hours to warm up. The first night was uncomfortable and largely sleepless. We were actually considering moving out and looking for another rental. It would have made a huge difference if the owner had taken the trouble to warm it up before our arrival. Beyond this there were a couple of maintenance issues, as well as lack of supplies. There were no dish towels or dishrags, and the dishwasher did not work. On the plus side, the wifi was flawless. The owner is a very pleasant man who seems to want to be accomodating. I get the impression that he's new to the hospitality business, so things may get better here. It is a peaceful, quiet, and extraordinarily beautiful setting--just without some of the comforts of home.
