Magnificent Ocean Views - Bicheno | House in Bicheno

3 Bedroom House in Bicheno
Set high on a hill, amazing ocean views can be enjoyed from every room and encompass the ever-changing seas, the vast coastline and magnificent ranges, it is a slice of paradise. Situated on the outskirts of town, a 4km drive, the home is surrounded by 5 acres of bush-land and wildlife is abundant so you are likely to see wallabies, kookaburras, parrots and possums, maybe more.
This home is spacious, the open-plan living is easy to manage and there are all the amenities you will need to enjoy your holiday. This is the perfect home to kickback and relax with a glass of your favorite drop either outside on the large deck.
Comfortably sleeping 6 people in 3 queen-sized beds including a wall-bed in the sitting room. No need to fight over the bathroom, downstairs there is a large main bathroom and en-suite and upstairs a luxurious en-suite off the master bedroom. The kitchen has a wall oven and convection/microwave oven plus a well-stocked pantry so you can prepare a feast or, for more informal dining, cook up a barbie or order take-away. The separate laundry has a washing machine only.
Other features include a split system air-conditioner/heater downstairs, heating throughout, 2 TV’s and FOXTEL. There's satellite internet which is fine for emails and browsing but not for downloading or streaming movies. Mobile phone service is non-existent so there's a landline with free local and interstate calls, however international calls will be charged.
What you will love about this neighborhood
In the small township of Bicheno, a 4km drive from my home, there's an IGA supermarket, a general store, surf shops, clothing outlets and a couple of cafes and restaurants.
Bicheno is a small, coastal fishing village situated half-way between Launceston and Hobart, both a scenic 2-hour drive or if you are coming by boat on the Spirit of Tasmania, it is a 3.5 hour drive from Devonport. Although the population is about 1,000 residents, as a major tourist destination in Tasmania, things can get pretty hectic during the peak season so this home on the outskirts, offers a relaxing retreat.
The east coast of Tasmania is renowned for its wineries and the Farm Shed Wine Centre in Bicheno offers tastings from around 22 vineyards or you can visit each winery individually including Devil's Corner owned by Brown Brothers, Milton Vineyard, Spring Vale Vineyard and too many more to mention.
Penguins are another main attraction and can often be seen near the wharf at night or there is small bus tours available.
For the more active, you can stroll among the trees surrounding my 5-acre property, play golf at the 9-hole Bicheno Golf Course (1km), swim at the many white-sanded beaches and explore Diamond Island Nature Reserve (2-4km) or visit Douglas Apsley National Park at the end of the road (6km) where you can swim in the water-hole or walk the many tracks.
Other activities include visiting the blow-hole in town, going on a Glass Bottom Boat or checking out the diverse fauna such as Tasmanian Devils at East Coast Nature World. For a spectacular overview of Bicheno, you can walk 10-minutes up a steep track to Whaler’s Look-out which is located in town.
With Bicheno as a home-base, you can do a range of day-trips including Coles Bay to see the spectacular Freycinet National Park, about a 45 min drive. Along the way you can take in the scenery, stop at some wineries for tastings, try local scallops (seasonal) or oysters or have a delicious meal at Freycinet Lodge. There is also a cruise to beautiful Wine Glass Bay where you'll see an abundance of seabirds including albatross and possibly dolphins, seals, and whales, during the migrating season Sep-Dec.
Another day-trip destination, an approx 1-hour drive, is St Helens, the largest town on Tasmania's north-east coast and close to the Bay of Fires, one of Lonely Planet's top 10 regions in the world. Here you can wander around the shops, take a stroll along the piers to check-out the local fishing boats and taste what I consider to be the best fish and chips in Tasmania.
There's too many options to mention but more information can be provided.
