Ledge offers beautiful sugary-white beaches stretching for as far as the eye can see. The village was established to service the local cray fishing industry and has evolved into a beautiful beach-side getaway. Ledge offers an interesting mix of traditional and modern beach house, chalet, caravanning and camping accommodation. This part of WAs coast is recognised internationally as one of the great windsurfing venues. Sport and entertainment in the village centers on the Country Club, with its golf course, bowling greens and tennis facilities. Just south of the village is where the Dutch East Indies ship, the Vergulde Draeck, or Gilt Dragon, went down after striking reefs in 1646. Some 70 mariners were marooned ashore, never to be rescued.
