This charming traditional stone cottage with an additional apartment next door, is in a small village on the hillside above Lake Lugano. Both buildings have been sensitively converted into 3 apartments which, when rented together, sleep 6 people. It makes the ideal choice for friends or family who want to holiday together but also have some privacy and independence.
Although the properties are built in the traditional style, inside the décor is contemporary. Upstairs in the main house, there is an airy living/dining room with large windows looking out over the lake to the mountains beyond. The seating area is furnished with an L-shaped sofa and a wood-burning stove. At the other end of the room, there is a dining table with 4 chairs. There is a separate kitchen which is well-equipped with an induction hob, oven, fridge, freezer, dishwasher and coffee machine. The kitchen has a small dining table next to large windows with lake views.
On the ground floor, the open-plan living area has a double bed, with a café-style table and chairs. There is a second kitchen with an induction hob, oven, fridge, freezer and coffee machine.
Outside there is a lovely stone terrace with a vine-covered pergola. The terrace, which overlooks the lake and has wonderful sunset views, is furnished with a dining table and chairs for memorable meals al fresco. There is also a private garden where guests can relax and enjoy the tranquil surroundings.
A short walk through the garden leads guests to the adjacent apartment. On the left of the front door is a kitchen-diner. It is furnished with a round dining table and a kitchen which is equipped with electric heating plates, a small electric oven, fridge, freezer and coffee machine.
Sleeping
Bedroom 1: The upstairs master bedroom, which also has lake views, is furnished with a double bed and an antique wardrobe.
Bedroom 2: There is a comfortable double bed in the main living area downstairs.
Bedroom 3: The spacious bedroom is to the right of the front door. There is a comfortable double bed and a striking wardrobe.
Bathrooms
Each apartment has a good-sized bathroom. The upstairs bathroom in the main cottage is equipped with a full bath with a showerhead, basin and WC. The other two bathrooms have a shower, basin and WC.

Location
The cottage and adjacent apartment are on the edge of the village of Pugerna. They are surrounded by nature and are a good starting point for many hikes through spectacular landscapes. They make an excellent location for a relaxing holiday or to explore the fascinating Ticino canton, which is home to many beautiful towns.
Bissone (17 minutes) is a former fishing village that overlooks the Melide causeway across Lake Lugano. This is the only link between this southern part of Ticino to the rest of Switzerland. Melide is the home of Swissminiatur (19 minutes), Switzerland in miniature, with more than 120 models of Switzerland’s most important landmarks and transport system.
Known as “Il Magnifico Borgo” (the Magnificent Town) Mendrisio (25 minutes) is one of the gems of Ticino. Its cobbled streets and vibrant squares are full of tempting boutiques and excellent restaurants.
Lugano is only a 35-minute drive from the apartment. The city hosts many festivals throughout the year, including the “Luganomusica” festival every summer. Lugano is a good starting point to board a boat for a day out on the lake, to really appreciate the scenery.
For self-catering, the Lugano farmers’ market (Tuesdays and Fridays) in Via Carducci is the place to go to pick up the best ingredients.
The closest international airports are in Italy - Milan Malpensa 1 hour 10 minutes by car, or Milan Linate, a 1 hour and 45-minute journey. If you are arriving by train the closest station is Melano-Maroggia (16 minutes)
