Balnakeilly House has been lovingly transformed into a luxury boutique hotel which offers exclusive use.
Our love for the elegant former family home inspired us to bring it back to life and keep the spirit of the previous owners intact, naming some of the rooms after the Stewarts of Balnakeilly, who were in residence for 500 years.
During the refurbishment and interior re-design of the house, original features and furniture were retained and paired with modern, eclectic pieces with a Nordic and Scottish design influence giving Balnakeilly House Hotel it's unrivalled atmosphere.
The vibrant interiors perfectly offset the stunning scenery creating a luxury boutique hotel with the charm of a well-loved family home.
During the refurbishment and interior design of Balnakeilly, we focused on incorporating as many of the original features as well as sourcing furniture and fittings that would tie in with the house’s rich history and it's previous owners, the Stewart-Wilson family.
Pops of colour have been injected into the traditional canvas of a Scottish estate house and eclectic modern pieces have been sourced from around the world to fit in perfectly with the original features, antique furniture and art from every era.
Dining
Breakfast is now provided as standard. A delicious menu for Lunch (packed or not!), Afternoon Tea and Dinner can be served in either the grand dining room or one of our private dining areas. The Dining Room seats up to 30 guests in dramatic decor that harks back to the glory days of Balnakeilly House. Enjoy the finest food in a superb setting warmed by the open fire.
Sitting Room
Come and relax in our sumptuous sitting room, a bright and spacious area that is decorated with bold splashes of colour, 1950s style furniture and old antiques. The beautiful marble fireplace is a feature with or without a roaring fire and through the windows, the stunning scenery is framed by beautifully designed curtains.
The Bar
Our fabulous Bar is fully stocked with the finest wines, beers and spirits. A delightfully quaint room and our friendly team will be able to quench your thirst.
Trophy Room
From the main sitting room you have access to the trophy room, another generous space that has been updated with contemporary features while retaining some of the original character. A real wood burner keeps it cosy while the wooden craft table can seat up to eight people, perfect for a spot of supper.
The current owner of this house is a passionate hunter and here you can find some of his trophies decorating the walls.
Beaters’ Room
A beaters’ room is traditionally where people on an organised shoot would go to enjoy their lunch. There would be a lavish banquet and an abundance of whisky to refresh the hunters who would be warmed by a fire or stove. Often the room would be used later in the day to eat dinner or enjoy a party. Our beaters’ room is large enough to receive up to 30 people and is another great spot for private dining.
Library
An intimate cosy room where you can enjoy some alone time, the library has shelves stocked full of interesting books and old photo albums that will transport you back in time to when Balnakeilly House was a much-loved family home.
TV Room
This is a room is where you will be doing some serious relaxing. Enjoy a glass of fizz on the enormous L-shaped couch, or rally the troops and lose yourself in a movie with a bag of complimentary popcorn.
Our Bedrooms
Twelve exquisitely and individually designed bedrooms will sleep up to 24 guests. Addional cots and z-beds may be requested for children.
Of these rooms, three have en-suite bath or shower rooms. The remaining nine bedrooms share five bath/shower rooms.
Nine of our bedrooms have amazingly comfy king or superking-size beds, of which eight of these can be split into twins. Three of our bedrooms have decadent brass double beds.
