This lovely 2 bedroom 1 bathroom cottage is located on beautiful West Lake. Enjoy a glass of local wine on your private balcony while watching the sun set over the lake. The Hillier is a part of Westlake Cottage Resort. This resort consists of 12 cottages that can all be rented together for larger groups. These cottage share the waterfront and all have access to a dock that can dock a boat up to 20ft. The waterfront has walk in access and has a mix of rocks and sand, watershoes are recommended.

In high season (Canada Day to Labour Day) different check-in/out times are strictly non-negotiable. Early Access to drop off belongings or to get the beach pass cannot be granted, no exceptions. A fee of $200 will apply for those who arrive early or depart late. In other seasons, reach out to your Host NO SOONER THAN 2 BUSINESS DAYS in advance of your stay to see if early in/late out might be possible. Guests may use the park pass only for the duration of their stay, not prior to check-in or after check-out.

Summary: The communication with the property manager was good, they responded in time however, in some cases the problems remained unresolved. The biggest problem which is actually sanitary and health related was there many ants in the kitchen on the kitchen counter at all times. This was unresolved as expected since no safe step could be taken while we stayed there. There was problem with hot and cold water pipes in the kitchen, for the most of our stay we washed our vegetable and fruits with warm water. The handyman came to fix it, it was only after his second visit later during our stay that was partially fixed, not completely. The bedroom windows and the walk out for the master bedroom to the balcony have no blackout curtains, there were window coverings but light could flow through and unless you had eye mask, it was not easy to fall sleep due to morning light after 4:30 am. According to the posting the cottage was supposed to be 2.5km from Sand bank provincial and it was in fact 19km which was a surprise for us. However, it was close to Wellington and Bloomfield so that was nice. Lastly, the cottage is very small and there is no dining table, so the same kitchen counter where the sink is has to be used for dining which is not convenient. We will not return to this cottage.
