Holy Cow is a charming, upscale 2BR, 2BA townhome in the gated Yonahlossee mountain resort community! Downtown Blowing Rock is only 5 miles away, and Boone is less than 10 miles away. Appalachian Ski Mountain and Tweetsie Railroad are both less than 8 miles away. Bass Lake and Trout Lake are both less than 4 miles away, and the Blue Ridge Parkway is less than 3 miles away! Sugar Mountain Ski Resort and Golf Course are both about 11 miles away, and Ski Beech is less than 20 miles away. Hawksnest Snow Tubing and Zip LInes is less than 10 miles away, and the Boone Golf Course is only 8 miles away! Both Grandfather Mountain and the town of Banner Elk are less than 15 miles away!
The property itself is a townhome which only shares one common wall in a two-unit building, so it is quiet and peaceful. It has paved parking for two vehicles (there are a few shared spaces for extra daytime parking if you have a visitor who isn't parking overnight), and is tucked away among mature hardwood trees, but gives guests a hint of a seasonal winter view when the leaves are down! Walk to the Yonahlossee Racquet Club indoor heated swimming pool, fitness center, six outdoor clay tennis courts, and three indoor tennis courts - one of which doubles as a pickleball court! There are some requirements to register as a guest for access, and you must schedule your court times, but it is quick and easy.
Level entry and one-level living for the most part make this property ideal for guests with mobility issues. There are a few steps up from the parking area onto the front porch, but level entry into the house, and both bedrooms, both bathrooms, laundry, LR, dining and kitchen are all on the main level. The rear screened porch is also on the main level. The upper loft offers a second space to hang out and relax, and has a comfy sofa which converts into a full-sized sleeper bed for extra sleeping! The kitchen has stainless appliances and a gas cooktop, is fully-equipped and set up for preparing and serving meals for a full house! The dining is open to the living room - both of which are beneath soaring vaulted ceilings with exposed beams, and sit atop hardwood floors. The gas log fireplace in the Living Room is impressive with a stacked stone hearth, and a one-of-a-kind mantle made from a century-old reclaimed beam! Adjacent to the fireplace is a HD Smart TV.
Adjacent to the Living Room is the master suite. It boasts a King bed and a HD Smart TV. The private ensuite full master bathroom has been recently-renovated, and features a huge tile shower with frameless glass door and a built-in corner seat. There is a granite vanity with an under-mount sink. Adjacent to the master bathroom is a walk-in closet. There is a sliding glass door which leads out onto the screened porch, which has comfy outdoor seating and and a grill! There are exterior steps which lead down from the screened porch to the wooded rolling grounds beside the property.
Toward the front of the house is the second bedroom, which also has a King bed and a HDTV. There is a full bathroom adjacent to this bedroom, centrally-accessible, also recently-renovated, with a sharp granite vanity and a nice cast bathtub with shower head, and a tile surround. Also in this bathroom is a laundry closet with high-efficiency front-loading washer and dryer!
Up the stairs leads to a cozy loft with vaulted ceilings and skylights! This is a comfy place to relax and read, get caught up on work, play board games or puzzles, or just take a nap. The comfy sofa opens up to provide a full-sized sleeper bed for extra capacity. There is also an air mattress in the loft closet which can be placed atop the sleeper mattress for even more comfort, or on the floor so one can sleep on the sleeper and one can sleep on the air mattress!
The aforementioned Yonahlossee Racquet Club is available to our guests at Holy Cow! As the owners are members, our guests can register for and use these amenities. The indoor heated swimming pool is open year-round, and during warmer months, the tanning deck is open as well, accessible from the indoor pool room. There are 6 outdoor clay tennis courts and 3 indoor hard courts (one of which doubles as a pickleball court). Subject to availability, you can sign up for private lessons with the club pro. There is a pro shop where you can purchase supplies, equipment, clothing and more. There is a cozy bar area where guests can grab a drink or a snack, watch a game or just relax! The fitness center offers free weights, weight machines, treadmills and ellipticals, stair climbers, stationary, upright, and recumbent bikes, rowing machines and more. The hours vary based on the season and the day, but these amenities are typically available until as late as 8pm on some days, or 5 to 6 pm on other days.
